Greetings all,

Over the past year attendance at Deep Root activities/events and
participation of volunteers has dwindled to near-to-nothing. Only one
person responded to this year's annual community survey. All the current
board members are either moving on to other projects (or needing to) and
having found no one interested in taking their places, voted on Oct. 4th
to dissolve the Deep Root organization.

We especially want to thank our wonderful members, volunteers and all
those who 'rooted' for us. We offered, sponsored or collaborated on
about 100 community events and activities since May of 2003 as well as
published and distributed a bi-monthly community newsletter. However, of
all the things we did, the most valuable effort has been to establish
the Deep Root Community Lending Library. Our community
pagan/magical/metaphysical lending library is one of only a half dozen
IN THE ENTIRE U.S.A. and the only one that has been in a publicly
accessible place. All the others are housed in private homes where you
must call to make an appointment to check out books.

The Sekhet Bast Ra Oasis members put in a lot of work on the Deep Root
Community Library project, wanted to see it continue, and have new space
at 2714 N. Penn Ave. And, as they were a 501(c)(3) organization we were
able to transfer corporate assets (the library, $1000, furniture and
equipment) to them. They will hold the Deep Root Library & half the
money in trust for a year to give Gail Peck time to get the EarthWind
Holistic Center up and running. If she does (and organizes as a
non-profit) the library and $500 will move there. If not the OTO will
continue to operate it.

Regardless, the Deep Root Community Library will remain available to
check out books, videos/dvds, cd/cassettes from, with all current
memberships honored and new memberships encouraged. Book donations will still be sought and accepted and will still count toward library
membership fees, which should remain the same unless you hear otherwise.

The library itself has moved to its new location at 2714 N Pennsylvania Ave, Oklahoma City OK 73107, and is now available for book checkout. For a list of the available holdings, click here.

We have a lot of great memories and have had the privilege of making
many friends and working alongside a lot of wonderful pagan, magical and
metaphysical folk in the past 2 years with the Deep Root project.
There's been some heartache too but we're at peace with all that has
gone before, just a bit of sadness that much of what could have been
never had a chance to take root, much less blossom or come to fruition.
May the work we have done be seeds of inspiration for others.

Thank you again to all who supported this project at any point along the
way.

Blessings to all,
Kel, Molly, Cindy, Emmah, Delia, Jay and Tyonne
